Balinese Police planting drugs to extort money from foreigners?
By Soenarko Danu Ardanto Jnr
Mar 8, 2006, 06:05
In a widely circulated email from one B Conscious, of which there is clear and confirmed evidence to indicate the sender is actually a European Consular for Bali, so the likely accuracy and ramification of their message is chilling, the Balinese police have been accused of planting drugs in the homes of innocent foreign residents in order they are able to extort money from them.
Recently members of the expatriate community in Bali and also Lombok have been charged with drugs offences after denying they were involved. It is a chilling thought that these people may end up in a horrible Indonesian jail for 10 years or more for refusing to pay a bribe to the very police officer [sic] who planted drugs on them in the first place. If the report / warning is genuinely from a European Consulate as there is clear evidence to show it is, there is likely to be an International and justified outcry for all Indonesian narcotics convictions of foreigners to be overturned on the basis that their law enforcement and judicial process has become so corrupt any such judgment is likely to be fundamentally flawed.
Bali BS has long published conjecture that the nasty mafia police of Bali have been planting narcotics on innocent foreigners for years given the ability for street drug peddlers to go on with their business with impunity on the basis they finger a number of idiot tourists / foreigners who buys from them to their police contact / pimp. It seems recent economic hardship from falling tourism due to terrorist risks, etc., which all are as a result of ineffective policing through corruption has "forced" Bali's boys in brown to take the next nasty step; to plant the drugs on innocent foreigners.
Reports indicate hapless foreigners have paid up to US$45,000 in "bribes" to have the Balinese overlook their alleged / phony narcotics possession. What a nasty island Bali now is. We would like to ask new police chief Soenarko Danu Ardanto how much he has made out of this new police "crackdown", after all it is widely reported that junior officers pay senior officers who in turn pay the boys in Jakarta. Bali BS would love to have details of all of Soenarko Danu Ardanto's bank accounts, especially covering the last few months since he came to the island of money trees!
Here is the email from "B Conscious";
Hi! ! there has been in recent months alot of people who have had serious problems with ileagal searches, harassment and many cases of extortion.....using ileagal substances which were "planted", because people have been so afraid most of those affected only spoke to close friends.
The Consuls in Bali have are asking EVERYONE who has been "visited" to please CONTACT THEM.
All information will be strictly CONFIDENTIAL.....no names will be passed on to any authorities. But unless people contact them they cannot help us. To date only a few people have actually called or written them to tell them what has been going on. they cannot act upon rumors. Particularly, any Japanese? or Germans?
You DO have rights, so please ask anyone who has been affected by this to CONTACT their respective Consuls, as soon as possible..... IF you dont want to live under threat of constant harassment then urge those affected to at least call and speak to whomever their countries local representatives are......... here is that information. Pass it on. There is a meeting planned for next week. so CONTACT THEM....... in order to stop the harassment.
Here is the consul contact list sent with the email;
